Christmas Ice Rinks 2012/13

from 02/11/2012 to 13/01/2013

Event: Christmas Ice Rinks 2012/13

Location: Various venues

One of the joys of the coming winter in London is outdoor ice skating against the backdrop of some of the capital’s most stunning backdrops from November to January. Great for a romantic evening, the competitive skater, or just a fun family event, there is an ice rink for the skater in you. Booking in advance is recommended for busy times – our  Concierge service will be happy to help with queries.

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, W2 (23 Nov-6 Jan): This is the biggest of the outdoor rinks in London, set around a Victorian bandstand with 100,000 twinkling lights strung over the rink, it is a magical setting. The Winter Wonderland also has a Christmas market, Santa’s Grotto and fairground attractions.

Skate at Somerset House, WC2 (16 Nov-6 Jan): Set in the grand 18th century courtyard, skating at Somerset House is a joy. Wednesday to Friday evenings are DJ club nights, with anything from Ibiza sounds to 1940s big band music to skate to. This year they also have Christmas arcade shops and when you have had enough of the ice there are a number of exhibitions inside from Peter Lely to Henri Cartier-Bresson.

Natural History Museum, SW7 (2 Nov–6 Jan): This 950 square metre rink is set in the gardens of Alfred Waterhouse’s 19th century building with the surrounding trees all lit up with pea lights and a balcony cafe bar for relaxing in afterwards.

A little further afield are ice rinks at the Tower of London, Canary Wharf, Broadgate in the City (open for longer than the others until 24 Feb), a small rink next to the London Eye, a covered rink at Westfield shopping centre in West London and on the outskirts of London at Hampton Court Palace.
