The actress Fiona Shaw will be reciting Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s narrative poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner accompanied by a dancer in the Old Vic Tunnels. The production, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, was first performed at the Athens & Epidaurus Festival in August.

The production with Shaw as the bright-eyed mariner/narrator and the dancer Daniel Hay-Gordon, choreographed by Kim Brandstrup.

Shaw, who has just finished performing in the play Scenes from an Execution at the National Theatre, has a long acting career in plays such as Mother Courage and her Children and Electra, but is most widely known for her role as Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter films. And Phyllida Law’s all female production of Julius Caesar is currently on (till 9 Feb) at the Donmar Warehouse in Covent Garden.

There will be 18 performances of the Ancient Mariner at the Old Vic Tunnels venue near Waterloo Station.
