DOWN WITH THE DINOSAURS

Designed by Alfred Waterhouse and opened in 1881, the Natural History Museum is one of Britain's most striking examples of Romanesque architecture, considered a work of art in its own right. Victorian explorers brought back exotic animals and plants from all over the British Empire and a building was created that would be 'a cathedral to nature' - big enough to display whales, elephants and dinosaurs. Always a fascinating outing for the whole family.
