Six Nations

Kicking off a season of sport

February kicks off with one of rugby’s most fiercely competitive tournaments: the Six Nations. England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales will line up against one another in a series of must-win clashes.

Across the five rounds, matches take place around Europe, and the first fixture – on the first of the month – pits France against Wales on home turf at the Stade de France. This year’s three London clashes see England take on France, Italy and fellow home nation Scotland at Twickenham – the latter a potentially nail-biting last match of the fifth round.

Fans can expect to see sporting heavyweights such as Owen Farrell, Maro Itoje, Johnny Sexton and George North alongside young players called up for their debut – including Sam Skinner for Scotland. With the 2019 World Cup on the horizon, there is even more at stake as teams make final preparations and vie to get the upper hand.

The 2019 tournament for the Northern Hemisphere sides mark a real test of competitive fixtures before the World Cup and a chance to build momentum – Ireland will be defending their Grand Slam and Triple Crown.
