Regent's Park Open Air Theatre
Productions in the park
A theatre without walls or roofs, where the rules are a little less stringent, where we feel that we might belong a little more, is really important.
Timothy Sheader, Artistic Director
Unicorns and star-crossed lovers all tread the boards this season at one of London’s most beautifully staged theatres. Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is set in the heart of the Royal Park, with soaring trees creating a magical backdrop and summer skies overhead. This inspiring setting has been enchanting audiences since 1932, and this year the diverse programme includes classic tales alongside vibrant new productions.

The curtain is allowed to raise once more and the summer season begins with Romeo & Juliet, as Kimberley Sykes breathes fresh life into this timeless tale of feuding families and forbidden romance. Then Rodgers and Hammerstein return to lift the spirits, with You’ll Never Walk Alone just one of the much-loved songs in Carousel, reimagined this year in a Regent’s Park clearing.
The finale of the season is for all the family: Derek Bond’s brand new Dragons and Mythical Beasts is set to catapult audiences into the world of stone trolls and sleeping dragons with a chance to meet the mystical monsters in this enchanting adventure.
An alfresco auditorium
Beneath the auditorium is a charming alfresco bar for pre-theatre cocktails and dinner, or arrive early for a picnic on the woodland banks and lawns of Regent’s Park.
