Aurora: Light in Motion (2025)
This festive season, The Berkeley in Knightsbridge unveils Aurora: Light in Motion (2025), a new site-specific installation by British artist duo Rob and Nick Carter, commissioned by Maybourne. Transforming the hotel’s entrance into a living field of colour and motion, Aurora invites guests and neighbours into a world of dynamic light and transformation. Composed of 150 bespoke neon beams, the kinetic work responds to human movement, echoing the rhythm of arrivals and departures. The shifting light patterns evolve throughout the day, creating an atmospheric, personal glow that celebrates the spirit of connection during the festive season. Aurora blends precision engineering with contemporary artistry, reflecting the hotel and artists’ dedication to innovation. For over two decades, Rob and Nick Carter have explored the intersections of art, science and technology, exhibiting internationally from the V&A to Frieze and the Saatchi Gallery. Aurora furthers their study of colour’s sensory and emotional impact.
