• London Guide - Spring 2013 Claridge's
    • Out and about in London

Recommended by our very own General Manager, Knut Wylde

Old hands and newbies alike will be thrilled to discover some of the things London has to offer this spring, and we’re looking forward to helping you find the best. Some might seem obvious, but there are a few ever-so-slightly off the beaten track that will add the perfect note to your stay here with us.

      Botticelli Reimagined at the V&A

I can’t wait to see this: it’s not just a Botticelli exhibition, but a show about our enduring love of Botticelli and how the images he created influenced other artists and continue to inspire art and popular culture to this day. It’s on until July 3.

      Kenneth MacMillan's - The invitation

One ballet I’m looking forward to is Kenneth MacMillan’s The invitation (May 28-June 11) which is described as gripping dance theatre, with its complex exploration of innocence and moral corruption. It’s on at the Royal Opera House as part of a mixed programme of three ballets from three very different choreographers, all closely associated with the Royal Ballet.

      The Queens 90th Birthday

This summer HM the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday – and visitors to London are going to know all about it. A four-day extravaganza at Windsor Park in May is followed by a huge street party on The Mall in June – and many parts of London are gearing up with special events.

After all that running around, I recommend coming back for a restorative Prêt-à-Portea (our afternoon tea for fashionistas), or perhaps a glass or two of champagne to enjoy before dinner.
